Qui Custodes Blog

The Qui Custodes Blog provides useful information on Business and Personal Protection.

A Note from Dave Kaufman About Qui Custodes:

Introduction:

“I created this weblog in reaction to the interest in personal protection and security that arose this year after the judges and lawyers were attacked and some were killed.  The American Bar Association wrote a story on the issue, Congress got involved, and I was interviewed for security and protections tips.  Later, when I offered a simple list of personal protection tips I was overwhelmed by the interest.  The contents here will be based on that list of tips, plus ongoing discussions with other professional and the contributions of you, my readers.  I hope you find it interesting and useful, and that you never need them.”

About the name:

“You might be wondering about this blog’s name: “Qui Custodes” It came to me when I was thinking about lawyers, and who we are: guardians of the peace and protectors of our clients. But we are threatened regularly by people we have offended or annoyed. So who will protect or guard us? The Answer: we have to do it ourselves. Then I remembered that there was a Latin epigram which translated, more or less, to “Who will guard the guardians”. Well, a little research and some help from my better educated friends tracked it down: “Qui custodes custodies” or “Sed quis custodiet ipsos Custodes” attributed to Juvenal’s Satires. So, Qui Custodes became its name. I hope what you see on this blog will provide information and discussion about personal protection issues, methods and techniques and you can use. To do this best, your feedback is essential. I look forward to hearing from you.”
